Q:
Your service was so prompt and efficient.. how can I ever repay you?
A: Why thank you! A satisfied customer is always our best advertising!
If you had a good experience let your friends know! If there is anything
we could have done to have made your experience better please let
US know...we are always striving to provide the best service we possibly
can in a timely manner!
.Q:
If I want to order by phone or if I have a question when can I reach
you?
A: Our CorsetMaking.com staff is available Monday through Friday,
from 10am - 5pm. If you call during those hours and don't reach us
leave a message or keep trying... we're often very busy with in store
shoppers, recieving new products, answering other customers' calls,
or making corsets!
Q: I really, really, REALLY need some supplies today! Is there
any way I can visit your store in person to shop?
A: Well, I'm glad you asked!
As of October 2005 we now have a physical boutique that we share with
Delicious Corsets... the Delicious
Boutique. We can provide supply shopping between the hours of
noon and 5pm, Monday through Friday, ...or, if you place your order
by phone or online (RECOMMENDED) you can come into the boutique on
any day during Delicious Boutique's hours of normal operations to
pick it up! (Just let us know ahead of time when you plan on coming!)
Q: So, now that you guys have this fancy shopping cart system
up I suppose you have just built a fleet of robots to pull and ship
orders..what if I need a special substitution, expedited shipping,
a little help with something I bought.... <wimper, gurgle, wimper...>
A: Ahhh, not to worry. Our fleet of robots are not expected to be
ready until late 2027. So until then our warehouse, offices, and phones
are still manned by energetic and helpful human beings! We are always
happy to be able to provide that "human touch" which we
feel is so important! Contact us, (really.. go ahead,) with questions,
special needs, etc and we'll do whatever we can to provide you with
the most specialized one on one service we can! (until late 2027,
of course.)
Q: Hi, I live in Australia (or other International location)
and am wondering if you can ship to me and how much it would cost!
A: Absolutely, we ship all over the world! Our online webstore at www.CorsetMaking.com allows
you to see the various shipping options available to you in your country
(whatever it might be) and gives you the price for each shipping option
so that you can determine your total cost before finalizing the order...
talk about convenient!
International shipping methods are determined by the weight and dimensions
of your package, so to determine your shipping costs before finalizing
your order simply follow these steps:
1) Place all the items you want into the online shopping cart at www.CorsetMaking.com ....
this allows the cart to calculate the weight and dimensions of your
package. Once you have all the items you need in your cart hit the
"Checkout" button.
2) Start the online checkout process by creating an account if you
don't already have one; this allows the cart to keep your shipping
address on file to provide you with shipping quotes for current and
future orders. After your account has been created or you have logged
in hit the "Continue" button at the bottom of the page.
3) The next page is the Shipping and Payment screen. On this screen
you will see a drop down menu that says "Ship Via:". When
you click on this menu the drop down list will show you all the available
shipping methods to your country and their prices.
..and that's all there is to it!
Most countries will offer Priority International and Express International;
these services seem to be the most reliable USPS International shipping
methods. If you need to arrange different shipping arrangements (UPS,
FedEx, etc) just contact us! We ALWAYS recommend Priority International
or Express International whenever possible. Be aware that every country's
customs procedures and duties are different, and sometimes delays
will occur based on your countries policies.
Q: I bought these BONING TIPS and am having trouble getting
them to stay on! Is there a trick? What is the easiest way to apply
them?
A: The easiest way I've found to attach tips is as follows....
Using a pair of needle-nose pliers crimp the sides of the tip inward
BEFORE putting the tip on the piece of cut spiral steel boning.
After crimping the sides in quite often a little pucker or bump is
created in the top of the tip... to get rid of this hold the sides
of the tip (so they dont spread back any wider) and then use the needlenose
to crimp in the little pucker that formed at the top of the tip...
The trick is to have the tip pre-crimped just a little smaller than
the width of the boning. When you slide the boning into the tip it
will open just enough to allow the boning to slide in, but will still
grip tightly around it.
Once the tip is on the boning and does not slide or move you can dip
the ends into Tipping Fluid to form a more permanent bond. If you
choose to dot this, you should let the ends dry for about an hour
(more or less depending on humidity, etc) before inserting them into
the bone casings.
....That's the method we've always used. Hope it helps!
Q: I'm a pretty experienced sewer, but I'm new to corsetmaking.
What pattern would you recommed for a first time corset maker?
A: The Laughing Moon pattern is great for first timers! It is a well
explained pattern and is multi-sized. The "How to Make a Victorian
Corset" is an excellent tool for learning the techniques of corset
making, and it uses the Laughing Moon pattern as it's basis!
Q: How does the heat shrink lace tipping by the foot work
? I see that is a new item, and I am in need of something to tip the
laces.
A: The heat shrink lace tipping is a 3/32" diameter tipping that
you "roll" the ends of your lacing through. Then by applying
heat to the tipping it shrinks around the end of the lacing forming
a tight bond. We have found a lighter works great for this purpose.
If you are using the poly lacing supplied at Corsetmaking.coml, the
trick is to heat to the point that the lace will actually begin to
bond with the tipping forming a permanent seal. Neat stuff!!
Q: Hi again...My international order has still not arrived
and it has been over a month ...and that worries me. What will happend
if it dosn´t turn up at all...is my money lost or what?
A: We totally understand your worries and know it can be
very frustrating when there is a delay in delivery. These delays however
are nothing we have control over, and are usually at the customs office
of the receivers country. We have never actually shipped an order
that has not eventually made it to it's destination. However there
have been international orders shipped via Airmail Parcel Post which
experienced significant delays at customs, sometimes as long as 2
months! In one case we even re-filled an order only to have to original
order turn up a few days later! For this reason we cannot process
a claim for a missing package that is shipped via Airmail Parcel Post
for 60 days. Please keep us updated on your orders arrival and for
the future be advised that we recommend that all international orders
be shipped using Global Express which is available in most countries.
Otherwise Global Priority is also a very reliable option and is typically
delivered within a reasonable amount of time, but customs in some
countries may still cause delays!
Q: I'm having trouble figuring out which kind of boning I
need for my corset. Can I get some more information and specs about
all this different boning you guys offer?
A: Sure thing! It can be a bit overwhelming, so we've put
together this great Boning Information page... it should answer all
your boning questions!

Q:
I was trying to submit an order, but when I got to the "Shipping
Method" option there was nothing available.. what's up?
A: Rarely, but occasionally, UPS and/or USPS rate calculating servers
will go down. When that happens our cart is unable to give you accurate
shipping options. Please call us, email us, or fax us and we will
be happy to manually process your order with correct shipping rates
